All traveled in perfect condition, and I loved the Tiger Beetle pic--thanks! It was spectacular, sort of like Christmas morning! :-) Thank you for some spectacular beetles, and all are wonderful. The C. guaymi are just as you said, with an irridescent green that is not quite like batesi or the other species, just better. C. clypealis is like "chrome" and....and....The C. victorina females are larger and better colored than the few I had from other dealers. One favor--the C. cunninghami did not have data--possible you could provide, please? All well here, it is now summer--hot and humid. Forewing between 43 and 44 mm - and in good condition - only a small damage on the tip to the left hind wing. Many thanks for the male! 2: Pepsis sp. from Peru: This is the species Pepsis heros as I hoped it would be. The other large species you had to offer, with partly orange antenna and different wing coloration, is most likely P. apicata. The P. heros specimen is in good condition - almost no damage on wings and no defects on body. The forewing is also as described between 47 and 48 mm. Good. 3: Vespa mandarina gueen from Japan. Nice specimen - 55 mm body length in stretched position is correct. About 45-46 mm in natural position I calculate from the length of the forewing. Quite large, but they get larger in China :-) 4: Robust hunting wasp - When I saw this one in the package I at first believed that it was something extra you have sent me. This is actually not a wasp. This is a cuckoo bee in the genus Exaerete which attacks other bees in the genus Eulaema. They are quite common, so I'm a bit disappointed about this species and expensive, but ok. 5: Horned wasp from Gabon: I have figured out what kind of peculiar wasp this is. They belong to the genus Synagris (Eumeninae). I've contacted a colleague of mine and he could tell me there are several common species with tusks like this widespread in Africa. I could no determine the species due to lack of proper keys, but from the information I have obtained the price is too high. But the specimens are in good condition and they were a bit bigger than I believed, so I would like to keep the wasps. Please let me know if you get any over-grown robber flies from Africa or Madagascar. The most common giants are in the genus Proagonistes and every one of them is a good mimic of the biggest African pompilids - nearly all of them are black with long orange legs. Another fascinating robber from Africa is Hyperechia, whose species are deadringers for large carpenter bees. Nobody collects them (just like with wasps and larger robbers) but they are found near carpenter bee nests - very handsome little "pirates." Also, there are more species of Hemipepsis and Cyphononix, some of them of considerable size, and several with very handsome coloration. I'm also in the market for max-size specimens of SA Pepsis, particularly from French Guiana and Brazil. Please let me know if you have questions. I really like the specimen. Aber erst heute morgen habe ich ausgepackt: alles in gute Ordnung! Der grüne Chrysina ist wirklich fabelhaft: in Wirklichkeit ist es noch schöner als auf den Photos. Für mich kommt das Exemplar es meist in der Nähe von Chr. batesi gold und vielleicht noch mehr von Chr. guaymí. Aber er ist doch wesentlich anders: Kopf und Pronotum haben eine andere Farbe (ein sehr spezielles grün) als die Elytra. Chr. ericsmithi sieht ähnlich aus wie das Exemplar das ich bereits hatte. Est kommt mir mehr als hell gelbgold vor als platin. Als Referenz hatte ich nur ein Bild vom Generic Guide to New World Scarab Beetles (da sieht er viel mehr als Silber/Platin aus, aber ja, wie Wirklichkeitsgetreu ist das Bild...) und ein Bild von einem goldenen Exemplar aus deinem E-mail von 15. Januar (dunkler Gelbgold). Schwierig aus zu machen... Sag mir bitte was du davon hältst. Dynastes satanas ist auch toll und vor allem der Anoplognathus smaragdinus ist ganz speziell. Und nicht zu vergessen Calodema hudsoni und noch alle andere. Um kurz zu gehen, es hat was gekostet, aber ich bin sehr zufrieden mit meine Neuerwerbungen, wovon ich natürlich erst dann der rechtmässigen Besitzer bin nach Zahlung vom Restschuld von * euro. The Cyclommatus alagari has very good color and the mandibles are quite symmetrical. It is much more massive than the 63 mm specimen I already had. I already had a 60 mm telodont which I thought was broad, but it is almost thin compared to this specimen! Alle Schmetterlinge sind wirklich von herausragend schöner Qualität und ich danke Ihnen bestens für diese Fairness. Wenn ich da an die Tiere von Herrn *** denke, kein Vergleich... Nun kann ich Ihnen, wenn es Sie interessiert, auch den Unterschied der Frühlings- und Sommerform von hermeli sagen: Nun, an den Zeichnungselementen, an Größe, Form etc. gibt es so gut wie gar keinen erkennbaren Unterschied, vielleicht dass das Frühlingstier ein wenig kleiner ist, aber das muss kein Merkmal sein. Es gibt innerhalb jeder Art kleinere und größere Exemplare. Das einzig andere zwischen den Formen ist, dass die grüne Binde bei der Frühlingsform strahlend grün ist, während jene der Sommerform eher türkis bis ins Bläuliche erscheint. Neben Achilliden steh' ich auch noch auf Atrophaneura-Arten. Ich werde bei nächster Gelegenheit mal Ihre Liste darnach durchschmökern und wieder auf Sie zukommen.
